JERUSALEM — Yidden across Eretz Yisroel woke up to joyous news early this morning as the chassan, R' Yaari Lieberman, was b'chasdei Hashem released from military prison. Lieberman was brutally arrested on Sunday while on his way to a Sheva Brachos and was subsequently sentenced to 20 days behind bars.Initially, the military demanded that he sign a commitment to enlist in the army as a condition for his release. Ultimately, however, his prison sentence was unconditionally canceled, with the release order signed by Defense Minister Israel Katz. The sudden release follows stormy mass protests held on Sunday night in Yerushalayim and Beit Shemesh, where hundreds took to the streets to protest his arrest at the directive of the Badatz Eida Hachareidis.A Sheva Brachos that had originally been scheduled to take place in front of Military Prison 10 will now be transformed into a massive central Sheva Brachos and Kabbalas Panim in Bnei Brak, with the chassan himself joyfully in attendance.

Vaad Mishmeres Kehunah Issues Warning for Kohanim on Bay ParkwayBORO PARK - The Vaad Mishmeres Kehunah has issued a warning for Kohanim not to walk or drive on Bay Parkway between McDonald Avenue and Avenue J, specifically on the side of the street heading from McDonald Avenue toward Avenue J. The warning was issued because tree branches from the Jewish Washington Cemetery are overhanging the street above the kevarim, creating a serious issue of Ohel HaTumah. While this problem has existed for some time, there was previously one lane that remained outside the ohel, allowing Kohanim to pass safely. However, after the city recently removed a traffic lane to install a bike lane, the situation worsened, leaving no safe lane for Kohanim on that side of the street. Askanim are currently working with city authorities to have the problematic branches trimmed, and it is hoped that the issue will be fully resolved in the coming days.
