IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir delivered a forceful briefing to reserve forces operating in the Gaza Strip, declaring that Israel will not permit Hamas to rebuild or reestablish military capabilities under any circumstances. “We are working to eliminate threats on all fronts,” Zamir said. “We will continue advancing and strengthening the IDF’s capabilities against future challenges.”

Zamir emphasized that the IDF now maintains control over large portions of the Gaza Strip, holding a series of strategic corridors secured during recent operations. Central to this new posture is the “Yellow Line,” which he described as both a forward defensive barrier and an offensive staging line for operations aimed at protecting Israeli border communities.

The Yellow Line—established under the latest ceasefire arrangement—marks a significant shift in Israeli control inside Gaza. According to reports from the Times of Israel and the Jerusalem Post, the line encompasses approximately 53% of the territory, including key areas of Rafah, effectively creating a new, enduring security buffer between Israel and Hamas-controlled zones.

The Chief of Staff framed the new border architecture as a long-term necessity to prevent Hamas from regrouping. “We will not allow Hamas to reestablish itself. We control large parts of the Gaza Strip and hold strategic lines,” he told troops, underscoring that the Yellow Line will serve as a permanent component of Israel’s evolving defense doctrine.

Zamir’s remarks reflect Israel’s broader effort to institutionalize post-war control mechanisms inside Gaza while preparing for emerging regional threats across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, Syria, and the Red Sea corridor.
