A motorcyclist who led police on a dangerous high-speed chase through Milton Keynes has been fined over £5,000 and handed a one-month driving ban after being caught traveling at an astonishing 127 miles per hour.

Ricky Catchpole, 33, was riding a Yamaha R1 on the A5 in April 2024 when officers detected his motorcycle speeding with no visible number plate. When police attempted to pull him over, Catchpole accelerated away, sparking a pursuit that showcased reckless disregard for safety.

Dashcam footage captured Catchpole weaving through traffic at excessive speeds before losing control while taking a tight corner at lower speed, sending him crashing to the ground. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured during the incident.

Catchpole was arrested at the scene and later convicted in court following a trial. The court imposed a one-month driving ban and ordered him to pay fines and costs exceeding £5,000.

Authorities say the incident serves as a stark warning to reckless drivers. “Speeds like this put everyone on the road in danger,” a police spokesperson said. “It’s fortunate this didn’t end in tragedy.”

Police reiterated that excessive speed and illegal modifications — including riding without a number plate — will be met with firm enforcement as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety across the UK.
