While aid to Ukraine pulled from existing stocks, a recent CSIS analysis pointed to heavy Patriot use during 2026 Middle East operations against Iran as another major source of depletion. Replenishing those interceptors has therefore become a long-term industrial priority for the Pentagon. The scale of the planned increase raises questions about how quickly the new capacity will come online, whether it will fully restore pre-conflict inventory levels, and how the expanded output will balance commitments to allies with the need to keep America’s own defenses fully stocked.
