Lindell Blasts Klobuchar for Abandoning Voting Machine Fraud Fight

Minnesota Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Lindell is calling out Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar for what he describes as a sharp reversal on voting machine security and election integrity. Speaking at the August 5 Farmfest candidate forum, Lindell reminded voters that Klobuchar once publicly targeted vulnerabilities in election equipment. He pointed to her appearance in the HBO documentary “Kill Chain,” where she named specific machines and highlighted concerns about fraud risks. According to Lindell, that scrutiny ended abruptly after the 2020 election.

Lindell’s comments come just days before the August 11 Republican primary, where he is competing against Lisa Demuth and Kendall Qualls for the chance to face Klobuchar in the general election for governor. He noted that Klobuchar had co-signed 2019 Senate letters pressing major voting system vendors—including Dominion, ES&S, and Hart InterCivic—to address known flaws. Those letters focused on outdated machines that lacked robust paper trails and strong auditability. Lindell argued that Klobuchar’s earlier willingness to confront these issues stood in clear contrast to her later silence.

The accusation underscores a broader debate over election security that continues to resonate with many Minnesota Republicans. Lindell, a longtime advocate for stricter election safeguards, framed Klobuchar’s shift as evidence of selective concern that only applied before the 2020 results. By highlighting her past statements and actions, he is seeking to draw a sharp distinction between his own consistent focus on integrity and what he sees as political convenience on the other side. The timing of the remarks, so close to the primary, is clearly intended to energize voters who prioritize secure and transparent elections.

As the Republican primary approaches, Lindell is positioning himself as the candidate unwilling to look away from longstanding questions about voting technology. His challenge to Klobuchar keeps the issue of election machine reliability front and center in the Minnesota governor’s race. For supporters of stronger election protections, the exchange serves as a reminder that past warnings about outdated systems and weak audit trails should not simply fade when political circumstances change.
