Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed that the United States remains firmly committed to its longstanding policy regarding Taiwan, pushing back against growing speculation that Washington could soften its position under mounting pressure from Beijing. Speaking during an interview with NBC, Rubio explained that Chinese officials routinely raise the Taiwan issue during diplomatic meetings, but stressed that the United States consistently responds by restating its established policy before moving discussions toward other strategic matters. His comments came at a time of heightened tensions between China and Taiwan, with Beijing continuing aggressive military posturing and repeated warnings against deeper American involvement in the region. Rubio’s remarks were widely viewed as an effort to project stability and resolve while avoiding unnecessary escalation with the Chinese government.
