BREAKING: Israeli Forces Launch Ground Operations in Central Gaza's Deir al-Balah for First Time in War

GAZA — Israeli forces have initiated ground operations in the Deir al-Balah area of central Gaza for the first time since the outbreak of the war, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began advancing into the region following a night of intensified artillery shelling and aerial bombardments that targeted key areas within and around Deir al-Balah. Eyewitness reports and local sources confirm that IDF tanks have moved into both the southern and eastern sectors of the city.

On the eve of the incursion, the IDF issued evacuation warnings to residents in several neighborhoods in the southwestern part of Deir al-Balah, urging civilians to flee to designated safe zones. The warnings were seen as a precursor to imminent military activity on the ground.

This marks the first confirmed ground engagement in central Gaza, an area that had thus far remained less directly affected by earlier stages of Israel’s campaign. The move signals a broadening of military operations beyond the northern and southern fronts that had been the focus of earlier phases.

The Israeli military has not yet released a formal statement detailing the objectives of this new ground offensive. However, officials have previously stated that operations in Gaza aim to dismantle Hamas infrastructure, following the group's deadly October 2023 attacks.

Humanitarian agencies are now bracing for further displacement and a worsening situation on the ground, as the conflict deepens in one of Gaza’s most densely populated regions.

The situation remains highly fluid, and further updates are expected as the operation unfolds.
