A truck driver accused of causing a deadly crash that claimed the lives of three Americans has been extradited from California to Florida, where he now faces vehicular homicide charges.

Authorities identified the suspect as Harjinder Singh, who allegedly made an illegal U-turn that resulted in the fatal collision. The case has sparked political debate after revelations that Singh, who is reportedly in the U.S. illegally, was granted a commercial driver’s license in California.

Critics, including Florida officials, argue that California’s licensing policies contributed to the tragedy. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and others have accused California Governor Gavin Newsom of failing to enforce stricter measures, claiming such policies put lives at risk.

Singh, now in custody in Florida, faces trial on multiple counts of vehicular homicide. Following legal proceedings, he is also expected to undergo deportation proceedings.
