Police deployed water cannon across parts of Belfast and surrounding areas as violent unrest intensified for a second consecutive night following a knife attack that left a man seriously injured. Authorities reported clashes with masked groups, while fires, damaged vehicles, and attacks on property added to growing concerns over public order across Northern Ireland.

The unrest followed the charging of a 30-year-old Sudanese man with attempted murder in connection with the attack, an incident that rapidly became the center of a wider public reaction and demonstrations tied to immigration concerns. Reports described protesters gathering in large numbers, with some incidents escalating into attacks on homes, vehicles, and confrontations with police as emergency resources were expanded across affected areas.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the violence and warned that those responsible would face the full force of the law. Officials continued urging calm while emphasizing that criminal investigations and public order operations would proceed separately as police sought to prevent further escalation.
