Newly released California Highway Patrol dashcam footage shows the jaw-dropping moment a white Acura Integra swung wide on a curve and slammed into the side of a massive gravel truck hauling two loaded trailers, flipping the entire rig onto its side. The crash happened on September 9 at around 11:30 a.m. on State Route 33 at Coalinga-Mendota Road, after the Acura drifted across the centerline and into oncoming traffic. The impact sent the small car twisting into the air before it came to rest on the shoulder, while the truck and its trailers toppled over, spilling gravel and diesel fuel across the highway. The collision was severe enough to shut down the highway for roughly seven hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and cleanup the spill.

The Acura driver suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, while the truck driver escaped with only minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. CHP later confirmed that neither driver's injuries were believed to be life-threatening, and in an update released more than a week after the crash, the agency said the Acura driver is expected to make a full recovery. Investigators say their preliminary findings point to the Acura crossing into the truck's lane, but the exact cause of the crash remains under review.
