As Rosh Hashanah draws closer, the familiar sound of the shofar is once again being heard each morning in shuls and Jewish communities around the world.

A short clip shared this week captures one such moment, with a mispallel sounding the shofar following morning davening — part of the longstanding Elul minhag intended to awaken hearts to teshuvah and preparation for the Yomim Noraim.

The shofar is traditionally sounded on weekday mornings throughout Elul, as Jews prepare spiritually for Rosh Hashanah and the coming Days of Awe.
