Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams of the Metropolitan Police confirmed an antisemitic arson attack on four Hatzola volunteer ambulances parked outside a Golders Green synagogue overnight. The vehicles were destroyed in the blaze, but no injuries occurred after authorities evacuated 34 nearby residents as a precaution. Police released a video statement detailing the incident, emphasizing the hate-crime motivation behind the attack.

Counter-terrorism units are leading the investigation, with officers searching for three hooded suspects captured on surveillance footage. An online claim of responsibility remains unverified, and no arrests have been made. Authorities are treating the incident with urgency given the targeted nature of the attack and its potential to escalate community tensions.

This attack occurs amid a broader rise in antisemitic incidents in the United Kingdom, which increased by 147% in 2024 according to Community Security Trust data. Law enforcement agencies have increased patrols in Jewish areas, particularly ahead of Passover, to safeguard communities and prevent further attacks. The incident highlights the persistent threat posed by hate-driven violence in urban centers.

The destruction of the Hatzola ambulances, which provide critical emergency services for the Jewish community, underscores the broader impact of antisemitic actions beyond physical damage. Community leaders have called for vigilance and solidarity while authorities investigate the perpetrators. The attack has drawn national attention, reflecting concerns over the safety of minority communities in London and across the UK.

The Metropolitan Police continue to urge anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in solving hate crimes. As global tensions and local incidents rise, law enforcement faces increasing pressure to protect vulnerable communities and prevent further acts of targeted violence.
