An intense police pursuit in Battle Ground, Washington ended in an epic takedown after officers used a Grappler device to stop a fleeing felon who had stolen a car containing a firearm. The December 2 incident involved 40-year-old Danielle Crosby, a convicted felon with a long criminal history, who led deputies on a dangerous pursuit and rammed two patrol vehicles in her attempt to escape.

Dashcam and aerial footage captured the moment Clark County Sheriff’s deputies deployed the Grappler, a specialized tire-entangling device that launches a reinforced net to lock down a suspect’s rear wheel. The system instantly disabled the stolen vehicle, preventing a high-speed escalation and giving pursuing officers the ability to surround and pin the car safely. Additional units used stop sticks and tactical vehicle positioning to bring the chase to an end without firing a shot.

Crosby was immediately taken into custody and now faces a long list of felony charges, including burglary, vehicle theft, unlawful possession of a firearm, and multiple counts of assault for striking police vehicles. The firearm inside the stolen car added an even more serious layer of risk to the pursuit, underscoring the danger officers confronted during the chase.

The Grappler, now used by more than 300 law enforcement agencies nationwide, has become one of the most effective non-lethal tools available for ending pursuits. Manufacturer data shows the system reduces injuries to suspects and officers by over 60 percent, a significant improvement compared to traditional high-speed chase tactics. Although occasional field imperfections have been noted, the overwhelming majority of deployments help prevent catastrophic injuries and protect the public.

In this case, the device worked exactly as intended. Officers prevented a violent felon from continuing a dangerous, armed flight through public roads and did so without escalating force. For many viewers, the footage became a powerful reminder of the professionalism, restraint, and tactical innovation that define modern American policing—especially as criminals grow more reckless and better armed. The takedown was clean, decisive, and a clear demonstration of how technology and training can save lives on both sides of the badge.
