According to the probe, Hamas organized the information into detailed maps of bases, troop movements, and armored unit locations, even identifying vulnerabilities in Israeli tanks. The data was then fed into virtual reality training simulations that prepared terrorists for the October 7, 2023 assault that killed about 1,200 people and resulted in the kidnapping of 250 hostages.

The findings expose a deeply disturbing reality—Hamas did not rely solely on Iran, foreign intelligence services, or covert espionage. Instead, it exploited the openness of modern digital life. Soldiers sharing routine images with friends, family, or followers unknowingly helped build the enemy’s battle plan. Hamas operatives reportedly used fake female profiles, gaming platforms, and shared-interest groups to connect with troops, posing as fellow Israelis to gain additional access.
