President Trump stated that many of America’s elite weapons, including Patriot missiles, were transferred to Ukraine, but insisted the United States is now producing them at an unprecedented rate to rebuild its stockpiles. “When it comes to the elite [weapons], a lot of that was given to Ukraine — but we’re making it very rapidly right now. We’re building up our stockpile very fast. Right now, we’re making more Patriots than we’ve ever made,” he said. The comments highlight a shift from drawing down inventories toward aggressive industrial expansion. Officials note that U.S. Army contracts with Lockheed Martin aim to triple production of the advanced PAC-3 MSE Patriot missiles from roughly 600 to 2,000 per year by 2030.

The push comes amid broader multi-year efforts to meet rising global demand. While aid to Ukraine pulled from existing stocks, a recent CSIS analysis pointed to heavy Patriot use during 2026 Middle East operations against Iran as another major source of depletion. Replenishing those interceptors has therefore become a long-term industrial priority for the Pentagon. The scale of the planned increase raises questions about how quickly the new capacity will come online, whether it will fully restore pre-conflict inventory levels, and how the expanded output will balance commitments to allies with the need to keep America’s own defenses fully stocked.
