President Donald Trump recently praised the capabilities of U.S. B-2 Spirit stealth bombers following their deployment during a June 2025 operation against Iranian nuclear facilities, an action confirmed by Pentagon officials. The operation, codenamed “Midnight Hammer,” involved seven bombers delivering bunker-penetrating munitions aimed at disrupting Iran’s underground nuclear infrastructure, including the Fordow enrichment facility.

According to defense sources, the aircraft conducted extended 18-hour flights with multiple in-air refuelings to reach their targets undetected. The operation was intended to impede Iran’s uranium enrichment capabilities, part of broader U.S. efforts to prevent the development of nuclear weapons in the region. Trump emphasized the advanced nature of the B-2 bombers, noting their strategic precision and role in the mission, while also signaling plans to procure updated versions of the aircraft.

The strikes have provoked strong reactions internationally. Tehran condemned the operation, pledging to rebuild the affected facilities and criticizing what it described as a violation of international norms. Meanwhile, U.S. officials and allies have highlighted the strike as a measure to maintain deterrence and protect nonproliferation objectives.

Analysts caution that while the operation may temporarily disrupt Iran’s nuclear program, long-term regional stability depends on a combination of diplomacy, inspections, and sustained monitoring. The mission underscores the strategic reliance on advanced military technology in addressing nuclear proliferation threats, while also highlighting the geopolitical tensions inherent in such operations.

The Pentagon confirmed that no U.S. personnel were harmed during the mission and stated that operational security protocols were maintained throughout. While the operation achieved its immediate objectives, experts stress that diplomatic engagement remains essential to prevent further escalation and to address the underlying security concerns in the Middle East.
