A solar panel cleaning company in Linyi, Shandong Province, found an unconventional way to show off its new drone on August 28, and it had nothing to do with solar panels. Instead of aiming its powerful water jet at a photovoltaic array, the company pointed the industrial-grade device straight at a street dog standing on the sidewalk. Rather than bolting from the spray, the dog stood its ground, wagged its tail, and appeared to genuinely enjoy the impromptu shower, turning a serious engineering demonstration into an unexpectedly wholesome viral moment. The footage, distributed by StringersHub via Reuters Connect, shows the dog looking thoroughly pleased with the unplanned spa treatment.

Beyond the laughs, the stunt served a real purpose for the company behind it, which uses the drone's water tank and adjustable spray system to clean dust and grime off solar panels and restore lost energy output. Panels covered in dirt or debris can lose a significant chunk of their efficiency, making regular cleaning an important part of keeping solar installations running at full capacity. By demonstrating the drone's spray precision and control on a live, moving subject, the company managed to showcase its technology's accuracy in a way a still solar panel never could. All it needs now, as plenty of online commenters have joked, is a shampoo setting to officially become the world's first flying dog grooming salon.
