A devastating train and semi-truck collision in eastern Iowa has left one person dead and another injured after a train struck a truck at a rural highway crossing. Authorities confirmed the crash occurred near the intersection of a state highway and the Iowa Interstate Railroad, approximately 70 miles east of Des Moines, according to Poweshiek County Sheriff Matt Maschmann.

Officials later identified the deceased victim as the 14-year-old son of the semi-truck driver, intensifying the tragedy surrounding the incident.
