A "Muslim Only" Eid al-Adha celebration scheduled for June 1, 2026, at the city-owned Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark in Grand Prairie, Texas, was canceled after initial flyers specified exclusive access, modest dress, halal food, and private prayer areas. Governor Greg Abbott intervened by threatening to withhold $530,000 in state public safety grants, stating the event violated state and federal civil rights laws by discriminating based on religion at a taxpayer-funded facility. Organizers later adjusted marketing to emphasize "modest dress required" for a family-friendly environment, but the city ultimately canceled, citing the best interest of Grand Prairie following Abbott's deadline.
