The NYPD is racing to track down a group of burglars accused of tearing through pharmacies all over New York City, leaving behind a trail of busted doors and empty registers that now adds up to more than $60,000 in stolen medication and cash. Investigators say eight separate pharmacies spread across all five boroughs have been hit so far, with the crew cleaning out safes and cash registers while also grabbing prescription drugs off the shelves. According to detectives, the group tends to strike in the dead of early morning, forcing their way in through front doors or locks and, in several cases, prying entry open with a crowbar. Surveillance footage obtained by News 12 shows hooded suspects moving quickly near a getaway car and working at pharmacy doors, along with images of a storefront left visibly damaged after one of the overnight break-ins.

This latest spree fits a troubling pattern that has become all too familiar for independent pharmacy owners across the city, who say they're increasingly being singled out by crews looking for an easy score in cash and narcotics during the pre-dawn hours when nobody's around. Smaller, mom-and-pop shops have become especially popular targets since many can't afford the kind of armed security or reinforced gates that bigger chain pharmacies use to deter break-ins. Police have repeatedly asked the public for help identifying these crews in recent months, a sign of just how often this type of citywide burglary spree keeps resurfacing. For now, the NYPD is once again urging anyone with information about the burglaries to come forward and call the Crime Stoppers hotline, hoping a tip from the public can help put an end to the crew's run before more pharmacies become the next target.
