President Trump sat down with Britain's new Prime Minister Andy Burnham, and immigration quickly became the headline of the conversation. Trump confirmed afterward that the two leaders discussed the issue directly, but he did not hold back his own verdict on how Burnham is handling it. In blunt terms, Trump said Burnham should be filleted for continuing to allow what he called a third world invasion of the UK, arguing the country's leadership is letting the crisis spiral unchecked. He went further, accusing Burnham's government of treating ordinary Britons as second class citizens in their own country, a charge that lands squarely in the middle of Britain's already heated national debate over borders and belonging.

The comments come just months after Burnham took over as prime minister in July, succeeding Keir Starmer following a swift and largely uncontested Labour leadership shift. Burnham entered office promising what he called a circuit breaker for the country, pledging a new political and economic model alongside a broader ten-year plan for Britain. Immigration, however, remains one of the most combustible issues on his desk, and Trump's sharp public rebuke signals it is likely to stay a persistent friction point between Washington and London. With Burnham still finding his footing on the world stage, this kind of direct criticism from an American president adds fresh pressure to an already difficult balancing act at home.
