Satmar Rebbe Makes Surprise Erev Shabbos Visit to Rodney Beis Medrash Ahead of Yamim Noraim
Late Erev Shabbos afternoon, just an hour before licht bentching as the streets of Williamsburg settled into a Shabbos calm and Yidden hurried to the mikvaos, the Satmar Rebbe made a surprise visit to the historic Rodney Street Beis Medrash. The purpose of the unexpected visit at such a busy hour was to personally inspect the final preparations underway ahead of the upcoming Yamim Noraim.
During the visit, the Rebbe closely examined the extensive renovations completed in the Beis Medrash over the summer months. A major highlight of the project is the beautiful, newly reconstructed and decorated ceiling. Askanim and hanhalah members have invested tremendous time and effort to completely refresh the building, adding a fresh coat of paint, upgrading the infrastructure, and ensuring the makom Torah u'tefillah looks its absolute best.
These upgrades are part of a massive logistical operation to prepare the Beis Medrash for the Yom Tov crowds. Beginning with A' d'Selichos, thousands of Satmar chassidim are expected to pack the newly renovated shul. To accommodate the massive tzibur, askanim have meticulously arranged the seating, serviced the air conditioning and heating systems, and worked to ensure the building is fully prepared for the multitudes of mispallelim.
The Rebbe’s personal visit just moments before knisas HaShabbos left a profound impression on those present. It highlighted his deep care and involvement in ensuring that everything is perfectly prepared, both b'ruchniyus and b'gashmiyus, for the tzibur who will be gathering to draw down hashpaos tovos for the new year.
