Approximately 3,000 Jews participated in Rosh Hashanah tefillos and programs across Cyprus this year, as Chabad centers throughout the island welcomed local residents and visitors for the Yom Tov.

The celebrations took place at seven Chabad centers across Cyprus, with the central gathering in Larnaca drawing hundreds of participants.

Among those attending the Larnaca event was newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus John Breslow, who joined the gathering together with his wife, Sonia.

The couple was welcomed by Rabbi Aryeh Zev Raskin, Chief Rabbi of Cyprus and Chabad shliach, together with Rebbetzin Shaindel Raskin. During the gathering, Rabbi Raskin spoke about the significance of Rosh Hashanah and the importance of friendship and mutual respect.

Breslow's participation came just days after he formally began his diplomatic posting in Cyprus. He presented his credentials to Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides on September 9.

Beyond the main Larnaca gathering, Chabad centers around the island organized Rosh Hashanah tefillos and programs, including opportunities to hear the shofar and special activities for children. The extensive Yom Tov programming followed preparations during Elul that included classes and programs for children and teenagers.

The widespread participation reflects the expanding Jewish communal infrastructure serving both residents and the many Jewish visitors who spend time in Cyprus.
