An Arkia Airlines flight traveling from New York to Tel Aviv was forced to make an emergency landing in Canada after a passenger suffered a medical emergency while the aircraft was crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Flight IZ992 departed John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday evening, October 19, bound for Ben Gurion Airport. During the flight, a passenger reportedly began experiencing severe abdominal pain, prompting the crew to divert to Gander International Airport in Newfoundland, Canada.

According to reports, a medical resident and a nurse who were among the passengers stepped forward to provide assistance while the aircraft was still airborne.

The pilots declared an emergency and redirected the Airbus A330 toward Gander, where emergency medical personnel were waiting for the aircraft's arrival.

The plane landed safely, and the affected passenger received medical attention from an ambulance crew stationed beside the aircraft.

Following the emergency landing, the aircraft was cleared to continue its journey without requiring passengers' luggage to be unloaded.

The flight subsequently departed Gander and resumed its journey toward Tel Aviv.

The passenger's current medical condition has not been publicly confirmed.
