The Jewish world is mourning the petirah of renowned chazzan R’ Chaim Adler z”l, one of the leading figures in the world of chazzanus and tefillah for many decades.
R’ Chaim served for many years as chief chazzan of the Great Synagogue in Tel Aviv and later the Great Synagogue in Yerushalayim. His distinctive voice and style of tefillah became widely known in Jewish communities around the world. Bhol
Born in Tel Aviv, R’ Chaim grew up in a family deeply connected to tefillah and chazzanus. His father, R’ Tzvi Yitzchak Adler z”l, was a noted baal tefillah. As a young man, R’ Chaim learned at Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim in Kfar Saba and later at Yeshivas Chevron in Yerushalayim. Bhol
Over the course of his long career, he served Jewish communities in Eretz Yisroel and abroad, including communities in New York, London and New Jersey. He became particularly known for combining traditional Ashkenazi chazzanus with the warmth of Chassidic niggun and tefillah. Bhol
