A 29-year-old Kansas man has been arrested in Florida after authorities accused him of repeatedly threatening to kill Jewish commentator Ben Shapiro in social-media posts that referenced Shapiro's Jewish faith and included a countdown apparently pointing toward Yom Kippur.

Korby Aaren Strube, of Horton, Kansas, was arrested in Palm Beach County on September 12. Authorities say he faces 23 counts related to written or electronic threats to kill or cause bodily harm, along with two counts involving the alleged use of a communications device to facilitate a felony.

According to the arrest affidavit, the investigation began after security personnel protecting Shapiro alerted authorities to threatening posts made on X between July 31 and August 2. Investigators said several posts specifically referenced Shapiro's Jewish identity, while a repeated countdown appeared to point toward the period of Yom Kippur.

Authorities traced the account using records connected to X, Google and Starlink, according to reports citing the affidavit. Investigators said a U.S. Secret Service agent subsequently interviewed Strube at his Kansas home on August 4 and that Strube acknowledged making the posts.

The allegations are being treated as potentially motivated by religious prejudice. According to the affidavit, some of the posts contained explicit antisemitic language and threats directed at Shapiro because he is Jewish.

Strube was being held in Palm Beach County as the case proceeds. The charges are allegations, and they do not constitute a finding of guilt.
