A woman in her 70s was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a truck in the Rehavia neighborhood of Yerushalayim.
The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Rashba and Ramban streets. Magen David Adom said its Jerusalem dispatch center received the emergency call at approximately 10:06 a.m., reporting that a pedestrian had apparently been struck by a truck.
Emergency personnel who arrived at the scene found the woman unconscious and suffering from severe injuries. Resuscitation efforts were carried out, but responders were ultimately forced to pronounce her dead at the scene.
Police launched searches after receiving information that the truck involved in the collision had left the area.
Officers subsequently located the truck and arrested the suspected driver, a man in his 20s from East Jerusalem. The vehicle was seized, and Jerusalem District traffic investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
