COURTHOUSE CHAOS: Ohio Inmate Broke Handcuffs and Punch Two Deputies
A Columbiana County courtroom turned into total chaos on Monday when newly sentenced 20-year-old Timothy Reaggle snapped his own handcuffs and unleashed a full-blown assault on the deputies trying to walk him out. Moments after Judge Scott Washam handed down a 12-month prison sentence, Reaggle broke free in the hallway, spun around, and threat-punched the deputy escorting him straight to the floor before barreling into a second officer and knocking him down as well. Sheriff's office video shows Reaggle sprinting through the courthouse, sliding down a staircase, and racing for the front doors as multiple deputies scrambled to catch him. He very nearly made it outside before being stopped with a Taser just steps from freedom and wrestled back into custody.
Both deputies were rushed to the hospital with broken bones from the encounter, though they have since been treated and released, according to Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin. Reaggle had just been sentenced for a February 2025 attack in which he forced his way into a home with people inside, prosecutors say, and was already facing charges including aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated menacing, and failure to comply with police before this new outburst. Now he is expected to face an entirely fresh set of charges, including felony escape and assault on peace officers, on top of the year behind bars he was already sentenced to serve. Reaggle remains in the Columbiana County Jail as investigators finalize the new case against him.
