As thousands make their way to Uman ahead of Rosh Hashanah, Breslov musician and clarinetist Dovid Kliger has shared a stirring rendition of “Ana Elech,” recorded during his own journey to the Ukrainian city.

Kliger said the performance was recorded during what he described as a long and exhausting trip to Uman, offering the piece as a message of chizuk to fellow travelers.

The clarinetist chose a melody associated with Breslov tradition, giving the performance particular resonance as Breslover chassidim travel from around the world to spend Rosh Hashanah near the tziyun of Rebbe Nachman.

Kliger has longstanding ties to Breslov music and Uman. He has previously spoken publicly about making his first journey to Uman nearly three decades ago, while Breslov publications have featured his performances of traditional niggunim and Yomim Noraim nusach.

The newly shared performance combines that musical tradition with a message for those undertaking the journey this year.
