A promise made nearly two decades ago came full circle this week when Rav Yaakov Bender attended the sheva brachos of Eli Geller, fulfilling a commitment the Rosh Yeshiva reportedly made to him 18 years earlier.

According to an account shared together with video from the celebration, Geller encountered Rav Bender outside the Mir Yeshiva in Eretz Yisroel approximately 18 years ago.

During that meeting, Rav Bender told Geller that when the day came for him to become a chosson, he should invite the Rosh Yeshiva — and Rav Bender would come.

Years passed, but the promise was not forgotten.

After Geller recently became a chosson, Rav Bender was invited to the sheva brachos. Video from the celebration shows the Rosh Yeshiva participating in the simcha, bringing the encounter from 18 years ago full circle.

The touching moment quickly circulated online, drawing attention to the personal connection maintained over nearly two decades.

For Geller, what began as a brief encounter outside one of the world's largest yeshivos ultimately became a promise fulfilled at his own simcha.
