Preparations are nearing completion near the Ohel in Queens for an expanded Hachnosas Orchim operation that is expected to host a record number of more than 150 bochurim during Tishrei.

The program, now entering its fifth year, has grown significantly, prompting organizers to expand both lodging and dining facilities for bochurim arriving from major yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel.

For the first time, organizers are directly arranging accommodations for the participating bochurim. Apartments have been rented near the Ohel, with necessary work being carried out to prepare them ahead of the arrivals. The lodging will be made available to participants at subsidized rates.

A major expansion is also underway for the dining facilities. With the location used during the past two years no longer large enough, the yards of two neighboring homes have been joined together and a raised concrete floor poured across the area.

A large temporary tent is set to be erected at the site for Tishrei, creating enough space for the growing number of guests to eat their daily meals. The area will also be used for shiurim, farbrengens and other programming throughout the month.

The ruchniyus program is being expanded as well, with rabbanim and staff members from yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel expected to join the bochurim in Queens. A dedicated learning booklet has also been prepared for participants.

The preparations, which have been underway for months, come as organizers anticipate their largest turnout since the Hachnosas Orchim initiative began five years ago.
