British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has gone public with a striking claim, that the UK now has 'strong indications' Iran played a part in a security scare at RAF Fairford, the Gloucestershire airbase used by American B-1 bombers to strike Iranian targets. The alarm started when five British men in their 20s were arrested near the base after reports of suspicious white vans circling the area. No explosives turned up in the search, only petrol, and all five were released on strict bail conditions while the investigation continued. Since then, a sixth suspect, a dual UK-Iranian national, has been arrested on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, pulling the case firmly into the realm of possible foreign state involvement.

Iran has flatly denied any role, with its foreign minister publicly pushing back on Burnham's remarks and the Iranian Embassy in London accusing British outlets of wrongly tying Tehran to the arrests. Counter-terrorism police say the investigation remains complex and serious, now involving six arrests and multiple property searches, while US officials have separately pointed to possible foreign-actor involvement without naming Iran outright. Even President Trump weighed in, saying he was personally studying what role Iran may have played. With RAF Fairford sitting at the center of the West's bombing campaign against Iran, the incident has become a flashpoint of its own, raising uncomfortable questions about how far the war might be reaching onto British soil.
