Regulus Cyber, a Haifa-based company that has been developing GNSS security technology since 2016, has fielded a counter-drone system called Ring that neutralizes hostile drones without ever firing a projectile. Instead of physically intercepting a threat, the device broadcasts manipulated GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou signals that effectively take over a drone's navigation, forcing it to retreat, hover in place, or land in a controlled manner. The system is compact, weighing only a few kilograms and drawing modest power, yet Regulus says it has proven effective against swarms, multiple simultaneous threats, and even drones that use 4G or 5G links rather than traditional radio control. It has already seen real combat use with military forces, giving it a track record beyond the testing lab.

The approach offers clear tactical advantages over traditional kinetic countermeasures: it produces no debris that could endanger bystanders, making it particularly suited to urban environments, and it can preserve a captured drone intact for intelligence purposes rather than destroying it. Newer variants of the system add passive radiofrequency detection and active jamming capabilities to counter FPV drones that fly on manual radio links instead of satellite navigation, closing a gap that pure GNSS spoofing cannot address alone. As cheap, mass-produced drones and coordinated swarms increasingly define modern combat, technology like this is pushing military planners to rethink whether missiles and machine guns are still the right tools for the job.
