BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY — Chaos erupted above the Clark Street subway station on Tuesday when a massive hotel awning suddenly collapsed, sending debris crashing onto the entrance and forcing a full station shutdown.

The incident occurred outside a building in Brooklyn Heights, catching commuters and pedestrians off guard. No serious injuries were immediately reported, but transit service was halted and emergency crews rushed to secure the scene.

Video footage shows the mangled structure draped over the station stairwell as NYPD and FDNY cordoned off the area.

CBS New York’s Elijah Westbrook reported live from the scene, confirming that the Clark Street station remains closed while engineers assess the damage and investigate what caused the structural failure.
