Fierce clashes erupted in Tehran as protesters took to the streets of the Grand Bazaar, confronting black-clad security forces with barricades, bottles, and other improvised weapons. Raw footage shows advancing security personnel deploying tear gas amid fires and chaos, illustrating the intensity of the confrontation.

This incident marks a significant escalation in a nationwide wave of protests that began ten days ago, driven by Iran’s ongoing economic crisis, high inflation, and shortages of basic goods. According to HRANA, 29 people have been killed and more than 1,200 arrested since December 28, 2025, with the unrest concentrated in urban centers such as Tehran.

The demonstrations have gained momentum despite heavy repression, highlighting widespread frustration among Iranians toward the ruling regime. Security forces have responded with aggressive measures, deploying tear gas, batons, and crowd control units to disperse crowds, yet protests continue to spread across multiple cities.

Observers note that the clashes in Tehran reflect both the economic desperation of citizens and the political strain on the Iranian government. The intensity and persistence of the demonstrations underscore the fragility of the regime’s hold on power amid mounting domestic pressures and calls for reform.

The situation remains highly volatile, with the potential for further escalation in the coming days. Analysts warn that continued repression may fuel additional unrest, while protesters appear increasingly determined to challenge the government’s authority.
