U.S. Military Destroys Key Iranian Port Tower Used by IRGC to Target Ships in Strait of Hormuz

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced a successful strike on July 16, where American forces destroyed the Chah Bahar Shahid Kalantari Port surveillance tower along Iran’s Gulf of Oman coastline. This tower was a key component of a long-standing maritime surveillance network operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to monitor and target commercial vessels passing through the critical Strait of Hormuz. The operation significantly degrades the IRGC’s ability to coordinate attacks on innocent civilian crews and merchant shipping in one of the world’s most vital waterways.
