WIRES OVER THE WIRES: Russian Workers Climb High To Shield Power Site From Drones

A new point-of-view video shows workers in hard hats and high-visibility gear moving along extensive wire netting high above transformers and power equipment at an energy facility in Russia. The footage appears to show physical anti-drone barriers being installed or maintained, designed to stop aerial attacks on critical power sites. It's a striking look at how far energy operators are going to protect equipment that is expensive, hard to replace and increasingly in the crosshairs. The video itself doesn't say exactly where or when it was filmed.

The scene fits a wider pattern. Russia has been dealing with Ukrainian drone strikes on its energy infrastructure, and the response has included netting and other physical protection over key facilities. State-linked firms have also publicly promoted protective structures and turnkey energy sites with built-in anti-drone defenses. Netting is a passive defense and isn't foolproof: Ukraine's own nets and concrete shelters over substations have reportedly been beaten by fiber-optic drones working in pairs, with the first breaking through the netting for the second. That is why many observers are watching whether these barriers hold up in real attacks.
