Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stark warning to Hamas officials living abroad after the IDF announced it had eliminated the commander of the Hamas Northern Gaza Brigade. Katz stated that the operation formed part of an ongoing series of targeted actions against terror leaders inside Gaza. He said the strikes aim to cripple Hamas’s ability to carry out plots against Israeli forces, dismantle its remaining capabilities, and move toward disarming the group. Katz explicitly linked the campaign to accountability for the murders and atrocities committed against Israeli women and children on the holiday of Simchat Torah three years earlier. He declared that Hamas leaders who played central roles in the October 7 massacre and are now outside Gaza remain firmly in Israel’s sights. Katz insisted that none of those individuals should be allowed to die peacefully in their beds. He described this pursuit as both a national duty and a moral obligation.

The defense minister acknowledged that some of the wanted figures had escaped earlier due to a mishap but vowed that another opportunity would come. Katz said those leaders would eventually face the same fate as the commander killed in Gaza. His comments underscored Israel’s position that physical distance offers no lasting protection to those it holds responsible for the October 7 attacks. The statement framed the latest elimination as one link in a continuing chain rather than an isolated event. Katz made clear that the campaign will not stop at the borders of Gaza. By addressing both the battlefield action and the leaders living overseas, he sought to project that pressure will continue on every level. The warning leaves little ambiguity about Israel’s stated long-term intent toward the remaining senior figures associated with the original massacre.
