Hundreds of mispallelim gathered in Caesarea on Sunday night for Selichos at the site traditionally identified as the kever of Rabbi Abbahu, the prominent Amora who lived in the city during the period of the Talmud Yerushalmi.

Footage from the gathering shows a large crowd packed around the site during the nighttime tefillos. The gathering was independently reported by both local Caesarea media and The Yeshiva World, which published footage from the Selichos.

Rabbi Abbahu was one of the leading Amoraim of Eretz Yisroel and a talmid of Rabbi Yochanan. He lived in Caesarea and was a prominent Torah leader there, making the location particularly associated with his life and legacy.

The Caesarea site has become an established destination for Selichos during Elul. Local reporting ahead of this year's season described the kever as one of the area's principal Selichos locations, drawing large numbers of visitors each year.

The latest gathering has also renewed attention to longstanding concerns over access to the site. Local activists say the descent to the kever remains inadequately developed and have been seeking safer stairs and other improvements for visitors. Those concerns predate Sunday's gathering and have been reported for months.
