LEBANON — The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of extensive airstrikes in the Al-Jarmuq area of southern Lebanon on November 10, 2025, in what appears to be a sustained campaign against Hezbollah military infrastructure. Multiple videos from the scene show explosions erupting across urban and mountainous terrain, thick smoke plumes rising from buildings, and fires engulfing strategic locations.

According to Israeli sources, the strikes targeted weapons storage facilities and command centers associated with Hezbollah, part of a broader effort to degrade the militant group’s operational capabilities. Since October 2024, the IDF estimates that over 80% of Hezbollah’s rocket launchers have been destroyed, reflecting a long-term campaign aimed at limiting the group’s ability to threaten Israel.

Lebanese reports, however, indicate that while military targets were hit, the strikes also caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, highlighting the complexities of conducting operations in densely populated areas. Eyewitnesses described loud detonations, smoke covering multiple neighborhoods, and widespread disruption as residents sought shelter amid the ongoing attacks.

Analysts note that the strikes underscore Israel’s continued focus on preemptive measures to maintain security along its northern border. The Al-Jarmuq region has long been identified as a Hezbollah stronghold, hosting weapons caches and tactical installations that have drawn repeated Israeli attention.

The escalation comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with both sides maintaining readiness for further engagement. The strikes serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, where military objectives and civilian safety remain deeply intertwined. Observers caution that without careful management, such operations may further inflame regional instability and humanitarian concerns.
