New details have emerged surrounding Thursday's historic White House meeting between President Donald Trump and a delegation of leading Admorim and Rabbanim, including a proposed letter seeking presidential involvement over concerns facing the Charedi community in Eretz Yisrael.

The letter, addressed directly to President Trump and titled “Urgent Appeal to Protect the Rights of the Haredi Community in Israel,” was prepared in connection with concerns surrounding the ongoing draft dispute and related economic and civil measures.

According to Israel Hayom, the proposed letter called on Trump to raise the concerns with Israeli leaders and encourage protections for the rights of Charedi citizens.

Among the requests outlined in the document were protections for religious freedom, freedom of conscience and freedom of movement, as well as equal access to social benefits, public services, employment and institutional funding.

The letter also called for steps to ensure that wives and children would not face consequences because of the status of a husband or father, and asked that the military-service dispute not result in collective penalties against the broader Charedi community.

Perhaps the most unusual proposal was a request that President Trump appoint a senior White House representative to maintain direct contact with representatives of the Orthodox community, review relevant documentation and closely monitor developments.

Despite the effort, the letter was ultimately not sent or presented to President Trump, Israel Hayom reported. The outlet reported that the document had been brought before several senior Torah leaders for consideration before the effort was halted.

The development comes as additional details continue to emerge following Thursday's closed-door White House gathering. According to the same report, the full delegation first met with Trump, after which the Satmar Rebbe Rav Ahron Teitelbaum held a separate private conversation with the president lasting approximately 10 minutes.

It remains unknown which specific subjects were ultimately raised with Trump. No official summary of the closed-door discussions had been released, meaning the existence of the proposed letter does not establish that the draft issue itself was discussed with the president.
