Massive Expansion of Temporary Vizhnitz Beis Medrash Completed Ahead of Tishrei
Major preparations are underway in Vizhnitz ahead of the upcoming Yomim Tovim, marked by the completion of a massive expansion to the temporary Beis Medrash Hagadol. In recent years, this temporary structure has served as the central hub for tefillos, tishin, and maamados for thousands of Vizhnitzer chassidim while the permanent "Merkaz Haolami" is being built.
However, the space had simply become too small to accommodate the massive crowds. The lack of room was especially felt during Chodesh Tishrei, when hundreds of guests from across Eretz Yisroel and chutz la'aretz travel to spend the Yomim Tovim b'tzel the Rebbe Shlit"a.
To alleviate the overcrowding, a historic expansion of the complex was undertaken. The newly constructed wing adds over 1,000 seats, allowing the thousands of chassidim to participate in the tefillos of the Yomim Noraim, as well as the events of Sukkos and Simchas Torah, with much-needed breathing room.
The expansion was also designed with an eye toward the near future, specifically the upcoming massive Simchas Beis Vizhnitz - Premishlan scheduled for Chodesh Kislev. The chasunah is expected to draw thousands of additional chassidim and guests from around the world, who will now be able to celebrate comfortably in the newly enlarged facility.
On Erev Shabbos, the Vizhnitzer Rebbe Shlit"a affixed a mezuzah at the entrance to the new wing, officially inaugurating the expanded space just in time for the Yomim Tovim.
