Senior Brooklyn Chaveirim dispatchers visited the FDNY's Brooklyn dispatch operation for an inside look at how New York City's 911 system handles and coordinates emergency calls.

During the visit, Chaveirim dispatchers observed how incoming 911 calls are received, processed and directed to the appropriate emergency services, providing a firsthand look at the systems and personnel working behind the scenes of the city's emergency-response network.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the volunteer dispatchers and city emergency personnel to exchange insight and strengthen the coordination that takes place when Chaveirim members respond to incidents throughout Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Chaveirim said it handled a record-breaking 77,000 calls over the past year, underscoring the scale of the organization's operations and the importance of effective coordination with city agencies.

Chaveirim operates around the clock with hundreds of volunteer dispatchers and service members responding to community calls across several New York neighborhoods. Its work regularly brings volunteers into coordination with the city's emergency and public-safety agencies.

The organization thanked the FDNY for hosting its dispatchers and for its continued partnership in serving New Yorkers.
