The NYPD has released surveillance footage of two suspects wanted in connection with a pair of vandalism attacks targeting Orthodox synagogues in Queens, as detectives continue searching for those responsible more than a month after the incidents.

The attacks targeted the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates and Young Israel of Holliswood on the night of July 16 into the following morning. The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating both incidents as hate crimes.

According to police, two individuals approached the rear of Young Israel of Jamaica Estates, located at 83-10 188th Street, at approximately 11:44 p.m. on July 16 and threw bags containing motor oil, damaging property. The suspects then fled toward a dark-colored Chevrolet Suburban.

Young Israel of Holliswood, located at 86-25 Francis Lewis Boulevard, was targeted during the same overnight period. Police said bags containing motor oil were thrown at the synagogue there as well.

Rabbi Moshe Taub of Young Israel of Holliswood told JNS following the attack that his synagogue was also vandalized with feces. The NYPD's initial incident information provided to JNS, however, specifically referenced bags of oil and did not mention feces.

The vandalism was discovered as mispallelim arrived for Shacharis the following morning.

Adam Orlow, president of Young Israel of Jamaica Estates, said the community would not be intimidated by the attack.

Since the incident, the synagogue has installed cement security barriers designed to protect the building from vehicles, Orlow told ABC7. He said concerns over security have become an unfortunate reality for shuls across New York City.

Rabbi Dov Lerner of Young Israel of Jamaica Estates similarly said after the attack that attempts to create fear would instead strengthen the community's resolve to continue gathering and davening together.

The NYPD released the new surveillance footage this week as investigators renewed their appeal for the public's assistance in identifying the two suspects. The footage released by police comes from the Jamaica Estates incident.

As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. No injuries were reported in either incident.
