At least five yeshiva bochurim were reportedly injured overnight Wednesday as confrontations between police and Chareidi residents escalated in Elad following the arrest of a yeshiva student who was transferred to military police custody.

According to reports from the scene, police entered areas near several yeshivos during the disturbances, with witnesses alleging that officers used stun grenades in the vicinity of bochurim, including students who were not participating in the demonstrations.

The unrest followed the detention of a third-year bochur from Yeshivas Torah B'Tifarta in Elad, who had initially been questioned by police in Kfar Saba over a traffic-related matter.

After authorities reportedly discovered that the bochur was listed as having failed to report for military service, he was transferred to the Military Police.

News of the detention prompted demonstrations outside the Kfar Saba police station and near the Ra'anana Junction, where protesters gathered to express opposition to the arrest.

The protests subsequently spread to Elad, where tensions escalated during the overnight hours.

Reports from local Chareidi media described chaotic scenes near yeshiva buildings, with allegations that police entered educational compounds and deployed stun grenades during efforts to disperse demonstrators.

At least five bochurim were reported injured, with one reportedly requiring treatment at Beilinson Hospital.

Police, meanwhile, reported that demonstrators threw stones during the disturbances and that an officer was injured.

The circumstances surrounding the reported injuries and allegations of police actions inside yeshiva premises have not been independently established.

The developments mark a significant escalation following the initial detention in Kfar Saba, with the focus shifting from the arrest itself to the reported injuries and police response in Elad.
