The FBI has arrested a 21-year-old man from Valencia in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on charges that he was preparing a violent attack in support of ISIS. Jonathan Hunter Kramer was taken into custody over the weekend after agents intercepted him returning to a hotel with rifle magazines and ammunition. A subsequent search of his room turned up a semiautomatic rifle, additional magazines, approximately 190 rounds of ammunition, and other items. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the subject was allegedly plotting a violent attack in support of ISIS, citing his engagement with online propaganda, development of attack concepts, extremist rhetoric, and acquisition of weapons.

Federal authorities charged Kramer with receiving a firearm and ammunition knowing or having reason to believe they would be used to commit a federal crime of terrorism. Prosecutors have requested that he be held without bond, arguing he poses a danger to the community. Officials described the case as another example of the bureau intercepting threats before they could cause harm. The arrest raises questions about how online radicalization continues to evolve and what further measures may be needed to detect similar plots at an early stage.
