A white-knuckle landing at Tokyo's Haneda Airport is being hailed as nothing short of a miracle after a pilot fought through violent crosswinds and driving rain to bring a plane down safely in the middle of Typhoon Dujuan. Video of the harrowing approach shows the aircraft swaying and shuddering as it descended through the storm before finally touching down, prompting relieved passengers to break into spontaneous applause the moment the wheels hit the runway. One passenger on board called the landing a miracle, capturing the sheer intensity of what unfolded as Dujuan slammed into eastern Japan with winds reaching up to 144 kilometers per hour. The dramatic footage quickly spread online, turning the flight crew into overnight symbols of skill and composure under extreme pressure.

The landing came as Dujuan tore through the greater Tokyo region, killing at least four people, mostly in landslides triggered by torrential rain in the Kanagawa and Chiba prefectures, and knocking out power to tens of thousands of households. The chaos at Haneda was part of a much larger disruption, with Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways cancelling hundreds of flights combined as the storm bore down on the capital. Authorities urged roughly 1.6 million residents to evacuate as rainfall threatened to shatter monthly records, while flooded streets and stranded travelers became a common sight across the region. As Dujuan, Japan's twenty-fifth typhoon of the year, finally pushed out to sea toward the Aleutians, that one triumphant landing stood out as a rare moment of relief in an otherwise punishing and destructive storm.
