Congressman Byron Donalds of Florida visited Miami’s Lubavitch Educational Center on Monday, May 12, 2025, meeting with approximately 50 rabbonim, community activists, and representatives of Jewish educational institutions from across South Florida.

The gathering brought together prominent members of the local Jewish community for discussions focusing on Jewish education, community safety, and the growing concern over antisemitism.

Donalds was accompanied by his wife, Erika Donalds, and joined by Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and community activist Barbara Feingold.

Rabbi Benjy Korf, head of the Lubavitch Educational Center, welcomed the congressman and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships between public officials and Jewish educational institutions.

During the discussion, Donalds, who grew up in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood, spoke about the importance of educational opportunities and his support for allowing families to choose schools that best meet their children's needs.

He also addressed concerns surrounding antisemitism, particularly incidents affecting Jewish students on college campuses, and discussed efforts to strengthen security funding for Jewish schools.

Sheriff Cordero-Stutz reaffirmed her commitment to protecting Jewish residents and ensuring that community members can practice their religion without fear of harassment or intimidation.

Following the gathering, Donalds toured classrooms at the Lubavitch Educational Center and interacted with students.

The visit provided an opportunity for local rabbonim, educators, and community representatives to discuss issues affecting Jewish families and institutions directly with elected officials.
