Three talmidim of Yeshivas Kibbutz Neve Yaakov were released from military prison on Thursday after being arrested while attempting to travel to Uman for Rosh Hashanah.

The three bochurim — Noam Shmueli, Eliav Azulay and Netanel Chabura — were detained before their planned trip to Uman and subsequently transferred to military prison.

During their imprisonment, the bochurim reportedly requested several times to be permitted to recite Selichos on Erev Rosh Hashanah. They were initially not allowed to do so, but following public attention surrounding the matter, they were eventually permitted to say Selichos later that afternoon.

Following their release on Thursday, fellow bochurim gathered outside the prison to welcome them with singing and dancing. A limousine and red carpet were arranged for the reception, with bochurim carrying torches as part of the celebration.

The released talmidim also joined their friends for Shacharis outside the military prison before the group continued the celebration.

The arrests came amid a broader wave of enforcement involving yeshiva bochurim attempting to travel to Uman ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
