During a press briefing, President Donald Trump said he would consider deploying the National Guard to address rising crime in major U.S. cities—though he noted that most of those cities are led by Democrats.

When asked by a reporter whether he would send the Guard into “red” cities facing high crime, Trump responded: “Sure — but there aren’t that many of them. If you look at the top 25 cities for crime, just about every one of those cities is run by Democrats.”

The president’s remarks highlight his administration’s tough-on-crime stance and sharpen his criticism of Democratic leadership in urban areas. While Trump has repeatedly framed crime as a partisan issue, critics argue that federal intervention could escalate tensions between Washington and local officials.

The possibility of National Guard deployments remains uncertain, but Trump’s comments signal that crime control will continue to be a central theme in his policy agenda and political messaging.
